Microsoft to End Support for Windows 11 24H2 and Server 2022: What You Need to Know

Microsoft has announced that support for Windows 11 version 24H2 and Windows Server 2022 will officially end on October 13, 2026. This reminder follows the standard 90-day notice period issued by the company, aiming to inform administrators and users of the upcoming changes.

As part of this transition, Windows Server 2022 will enter extended support, which means while users will continue to receive security updates for five more years until October 2031, no new features will be introduced during this period. To benefit from mainstream support and access new features, users will need to upgrade to Windows Server 2025, the latest Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) release.

For Windows 11 24H2, users are encouraged to upgrade to Windows 11 version 25H2. Microsoft has been pushing for this upgrade actively, despite some hiccups earlier in its rollout. The enhancements in performance and improvements over previous versions make this upgrade significant for users.

The end-of-support date applies to both Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 24H2, emphasizing the importance of keeping systems updated to mitigate security risks. Microsoft has highlighted the potential dangers of not updating, underscoring the necessity for users to be proactive about their software updates.
