The updated Azure Local 2509 now includes advanced operating system versions, improved virtual machine management, and enhanced security measures.
Key Features of Azure Local 2509
The update comprises two main releases, solution version 12.2509.1001.22 and OS version 26100.6584, along with an earlier version 11.2509.1001.21 and OS version 25398.1849. The new operating system effectively accommodates the existing infrastructure while ensuring compatibility with newer deployments and versions. Users can download these updates via the Azure portal.
If there is a lack of compatible drivers, users may revert to image number 2503. For new hardware purchases, the operating system will be preinstalled when sourced from Microsoft hardware partners’ catalogs.
Enhanced Management and Performance
Azure’s latest enhancements allow users to view and manage dependent resources more effectively before deleting storage paths. This includes the ability to retrieve and remove entire storage paths in one operation. Additionally, virtual machines (VMs) can now undergo live memory updates without downtime unless the guest operating system does not support it.
The updated version of the .NET Framework, .NET v8.0.20, improves performance for both ASP.NET Core and .NET Runtime.
Security Improvements
The release also features a robust firewall security baseline with 407 rules, a notable improvement from the previous count of 324 rules. This update reflects over 90 percent compliance with both the CIS Azure Compute Windows and DISA’s security technical implementation guide (STIG).
