Recently, Microsoft issued a warning regarding the Windows 11 2024 Update (version 24H2), indicating that this update might lead to issues with Office applications like Excel and Word, causing them to become unresponsive or freeze following the installation.
According to the tech giant from Redmond, this problem surfaces on devices running Windows 11, version 24H2, particularly when “antimalware security solutions activate certain features.”
Additionally, it was specified that devices using CrowdStrike’s Falcon sensor software are experiencing application failures when particular features, such as the “Enhanced Exploitation Visibility Prevention Policy” setting, are enabled within the host’s Prevention Policy.
“Most organizations impacted by this issue mentioned that it was noted after performing in-place upgrades and clean installations of version 24H2. We are looking into whether this problem may also arise with earlier Windows versions and other third-party security solutions,” the company stated in a document released on the official Microsoft Support site.
At present, this issue is confined to organizations and managed IT settings.
On the other hand, if you are an individual using Home or Pro editions of Windows on your personal devices that are not overseen by an IT department, the chances of being affected by this problem are minimal.
Fortunately, CrowdStrike has implemented a temporary mitigation by disabling the troublesome Enhanced Exploitation Visibility Prevention Policy setting on hosts operating Windows 11, version 24H2.
In the meantime, both Microsoft and CrowdStrike are collaborating to develop a permanent solution, though the timeline for this resolution remains uncertain.
Microsoft has announced that it will share updated details on the situation as soon as more information or a solution for Windows is available.

A representative from CrowdStrike emphasized that “CrowdStrike is not responsible for the application crashes occurring on Windows 11 version 24H2.”
It is, in fact, a problem with the Windows 11 version 24H2 itself that is leading to applications becoming unresponsive and freezing.
